Vaquitas:
The vaquitas are one of the world’s rarest species. Vaquitas are porpoises (small toothed whales with low triangular dorsal fins and blunt rounded snouts) that are pretty small, with dark rings around their eyes. They live in the Gulf of California, in Mexico. There are only about 10 vaquitas left according to the World Wildlife Fund or WWF’s website. This happened due to them drowning in gillnets when people illegally fished. Some ways we can help save the vaquitas are by spreading awareness about this situation and signing the petition that will make the Mexican government hopefully decide to do something about this, or donating to organizations that help conserve the vaquitas. You can also just simply tell the Mexican government in some way to help the vaquitas, or shopping for viable seafood. The fish that were caught could’ve come from illegal fishermen that may have killed some of the endangered vaquitas. Doing this could help the vaquita’s population grow until its endangerment is no more.
Monarchs:
Butterflies have been endangered for almost 40 years now with quite many reasons. Monarch species have been plummeting mainly because of landscape-scale threats from pesticides, development, and global climate change. These butterflies can be called poisonous because of the food they eat such as milkweed. Milkweed is mildly toxic to every animal except Monarchs. When they eat the milkweed the Monarchs store the glycoside in their bodies as caterpillars which will make them toxic. Glycoside is “a compound formed from a simple sugar and another compound by replacement of a hydroxyl group in the sugar molecule. Many drugs and poisons derived from plants are glycosides.” Though these insects may seem like they are in no need of help they still are endangered. Some things you can do to help would be planting milkweed in your backyard, frontyard, or even in a grassy area. Planting milkweed helps the Monarchs because it is not only a breeding ground for them but its food for Monarch caterpillars. If you do tend to plant milkweed be sure to keep it away from animals. Milkweed’s toxins are harmful to pets so it would be best to plant in a hanging pot or in the ground with a fence surrounding it. With this information this shows that planting plants can slowly help others in need. Without us Monarchs won't be able to recover and it would be a small step to plant something and would help a species in need.
:
Sumatran tigers are one of the most endangered animals in the world and there are only 3,500 left in the world. The Sumatran Tigers become endangered due to deforestation and poaching. 40 Sumatran Tigers are killed each year. Here are some ways we can help Sumatran Tigers: stop human tiger conflict and wildlife trades, the most important protecting their environments and their habits. According to, the global wildlife trading poaching is responsible for almost all of the estimated tiger deaths each year. Sadly, the Sumatran Tigers are being killed for commercial gain.
Eastern Chimpanzees:
Since 1996, the
have been endangered. There are only 21,000-55,000 individuals left in the world. If you compare the Chimpanzees population with the human population you could really see that it's not a lot. They have been endangered due to hunting, pet trade, habitat destruction, and fragmentation. First, people should help protect their habitat by not cutting down so many trees for paper. You may ask “Then what would we write stuff on?” well there are other options, like stone paper or hemp paper. Second, people can help governments of different lands to establish and manage national parks for chimpanzees. Last, people could help monitor areas Chimpanzees live, That could prevent hunting and their land being destroyed. There are other ways to help them, but those are some of the best ways to help the Chimps. Let’s save the Eastern Chimpanzees!
To sum it up, these are some of the many animals and insects that are endangered. There are always ways to help these creatures to prevent them from extinction. Most of these endangered problems are from us humans. Though we are causing more harm than good we can flip it around to more good than harm. Without us, these animals and insects will be extinct and their species wont live on to see the future. Many animals and insects are pronounced endangered but we listed very few. You can always help one in need and will not only save a life but make you feel happy as well.
