Team Seas is a non-profit organization created by Mark Rober and Mr.Beast. Team Seas removes a pound of trash in the ocean for every dollar donated. They are currently trying to raise 30 million dollars and if this happens they can remove 30,000,000 pounds of trash. By the time of writing this article there is a total of almost $18,000,000 dollars raised, and the highest donator who donated $1,200,000 is ceo of shopify, Toby Lütke, who said,”For the Lorax… But wet".This organization officially started on October 29, 2021. It has been promoted by Dhar Mann and many other youtubers. Team Seas also has its own merch which is available on their website.
The organization all started when Mr. Beast was cleaning up the world’s dirtiest beach with his friends Chris, Chandler, and Mark Rober. As they were cleaning the world’s dirtiest beach, Mr. Beast noticed how whenever they cleaned the beach there would be even more trash coming from the ocean. Mark Rober was cleaning a river and found out that most of the garbage in the ocean came from the river and the people who lived near it. The people that lived near the river had no garbage bags or cans so they were forced to throw it in the river.
Mr. Beast has many other content creators helping to raise money for #TeamSeas: Mark Rober, Veritasium, Dhar Mann, TommyInnit, Markiplier, Pewdiepie, DanTDM, etc. Mr. Beast has gotten content creators from 145 different countries with a combined follow count of 1 billion. Half of the money that's donated is to robots that are able to pick up waste from the water and the other half is going to Team Seas.
